Community Partnership

Being housed in the Marketplace shopping center in Corte Madera naturally allows us much connection with the local community. It is important for us to have the children be seen as competent members of the community who are capable of contributing to the welfare of the local citizenry.

We do not merely use the school as an instrument to learning. We continually take advantage of our surroundings. The Marketplace, the Larkspur Path, and other nearby areas serve as additional teaching sites. In-depth projects in Reggio Emilia, whether it is curiosity about the workings of pipes under the city roads or the annual grape harvest, are grounded in a recognition of children’s need to understand their relationship to the community. Children are invited to talk with people in the shops about what they are doing. Bringing children into the public sphere celebrates their potential to contribute and creates an on-going relationship.

We have ongoing relationships with Book Passage www.bookpassage.com and Nothing Bundt Cakes www.nothingbundtcakes.com. We also greatly value our relationship with the Richardson Bay Audubon Sanctuary in Tiburon www.richardsonbay.audubon.org

We have a wonderful ongoing partnership with Book Tree http://www.booktree.us, whereby families sign up to receive a bag of ten well-vetted and diverse children’s books each month, conveniently delivered to the school. Even parents who frequent their local library rave about this service, claiming that “…the books always include the very best in early childhood literature, and the non fiction titles always interest my young scientist!”
