Being located in the Marketplace Shopping Center in Corte Madera gives Curious Minds Learning Center a natural connection to the local community. We believe it is important for children to be seen as capable and competent members of their community, able to contribute meaningfully to the world around them.
Our school extends learning beyond the classroom walls. Nearby spaces—the Marketplace, the Larkspur Path, and other local areas—become additional teaching sites. In-depth projects, inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, grow from children’s curiosity about the world around them. From exploring the workings of pipes under city streets to participating in the annual grape harvest, children are encouraged to engage with their community, ask questions, and interact with local shopkeepers. These experiences celebrate children’s potential to contribute and foster lasting connections with their surroundings.
We maintain ongoing relationships with local businesses, including Book Passage and Nothing Bundt Cakes, and we treasure our partnership with the Richardson Bay Audubon Sanctuary in Tiburon.
Through our collaboration with Book Tree, families can sign up to receive a monthly bag of ten carefully selected and diverse children’s books, conveniently delivered to the school. Even parents who frequently visit the library appreciate this service, noting that “…the books always include the very best in early childhood literature, and the nonfiction titles always interest my young scientist!”
For children enrolled in our aftercare program, we offer enrichment classes including Yoga, Gymnastics, and Music & Movement, providing opportunities for continued exploration, movement, and creative expression.
